The south west of Scotland, warmed by the Gulf Stream, is justly famous for its gardens.
- Logan Botanic Gardens is Scotland's most exotic garden with a fine collection of subtropical plants.
- Castle Kennedy Gardens are known for their collection of rhododendrons and azaleas in the springtime, and magnificent specimen trees.
- Glenwhan Gardens are remarkable, transformed from gorse covered hillside, with spectacular views over Luce Bay.
- Threave Garden is best known for its spectacular springtime display of daffodils, colourful herbaceous beds and striking heather garden.
- Galloway House Garden, with walks along the shores of the Solway, was created in 1740, and is currently being restored.
